Landerman Family Reunion Info
As you have no doubt heard by now, we are having a family reunion on Saturday, June 28 in beautiful Joliet, Illinois. There will be a luncheon provided at a cost of $10 per person (14 and up). In order to make a more concerted effort to keep this information centralized and acessible, I am starting a new thread in the forums. I will go ahead and post Joe's email, but feel free to add any information, questions, comments, etc. you may have.

What can you do with the new Landerman.org?
If you're familiar with online message board/forum systems, you'll be right at home. For the uninitiated, forums provide a logically organized ("threaded") system for communicating with others online. Forums are an asynchronous, almost-real-time system, meaning you can carry on conversations in a relaxed timeframe instead of being glued to the keyboard for the duration of the interaction (like Instant Messaging). Simply navigate to the forums, find a topic ("thread") that interests you, and post pretty much whatever you want to say.
You can have your own blog account on Landerman.org and create an online journal for others to read. Blogs are a great way to keep friends and family updated, and require no knowledge of HTML or any other technical experience. Updating your blog is as easy as sending an email. If you need help getting started, just let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through it.
Post pictures to share with the rest of the Landerman.org community, and organize them into groups. Community Server also allows you to share and organize other types of documents in the same way. When you register as a member, a photo gallery will automatically be created for your user name. Just go to the photo section and start uploading pictures!

Upgrade Notes:
My work here is not done. I know that there is a lot of configuration to do, and I expect to see some errors. In addition, all of the original content (what there was of it) on Landerman.org has been archived away. If there's anything missing or broken that you'd like to see back, please contact me.
If you signed up for a Landerman.org user account in the past, it will not work with the new system. Please create an account again and consider the old account gone forever - sorry about that, but it was too much work to integrate.
Email addresses: If you have a landerman.org email address, nothing has changed. Your email should not be affected in any way by this upgrade. Also, feel free to contact me if you would like a landerman.org email address. They're free to family members (or friends or whatever).

Go ahead and try it out already! The more users we get signed up and active on the site, the more useful it will be to everyone. I want to make this site the primary resource for family news and event planning, but it will only work if everyone uses it regularly. Sign up for an account now and try posting to the forum to introduce yourself. If you need help, please do not hesitate to ask me!
